STEP FOUR. Twitter is not just about 140 characters of text; it is also about links, images, and videos.
Now that you have a Twitter account and have practiced tweeting (tweet, retweet, and reply), it's time to make sure you know how to tweet with links, images, and video:
1. Tweet with a link. To tweet with a link, all you have to do is paste the link address (including http) into your tweet; Twitter will automatically shorten the link for you, so don't worry that a long URL will use up all your characters. Sometimes links will just appear as links, but sometimes the link will cause a preview to appear automatically which includes an image.
2. Tweet with an image. You can also choose to include an image of your choice in a tweet. To do that, just click on the camera icon that appears in the tweet editing box, and choose the image you want to use. You can include up to four images in a single tweet.
3. Tweet with a video. Twitter contains a media player that will actually play the video inside the tweet. Just paste in the video address from YouTube (or Vimeo, etc.), and Twitter will handle the video display and playback. Here's an example of a tweet with video playback; it's from my favorite musical group in India, Maati Baani:
So, keep on practicing with finding accounts to follow, plus tweets-retweets-replies and links-images-video.
